The Gladiators' Challenge Rules and Regulations

Players’ Equipment


1. A player shall not use equipment or wear anything (including any kind of jewellery) that could be dangerous to himself or another player.

2. Players are recommended to wear these following sports gear

- Distinct jerseys or attire for your whole team

- Street soccer shoes or soccer boots ( metal studs are strictly not allowed )

- Shin guard is highly recommended for player’s safety

3. Goalkeepers attire

- Permitted to wear long trousers

- Each goalkeeper shall wear colours that easily distinguish him from the other players and referee

- Wearing goalkeeper gloves is a compulsory



Laws of the Game


4. Team structure

- Minimum 5 players with 4 outfield players and 1 goalkeeper

- Maximum 3 substitutes

5. Match structure

- Match length is 8 minutes

- NO half-time or change of sides for teams during the match

- A coin is tossed and the team that wins the toss shall decide whether to start the game or choose which side to start the match from.

- Rolling substitutes which mean that substitutes can be reused again

- Teams have to be at game venue promptly and if they are not present, 1 minute grace period will be given. After which, it will be considered a walkover.

6. A kick-off is a way of starting or restarting play at the centre of the pitch:
- at the start of the match
- after a goal has been scored

7. Red carded player during the match is irreplaceable but they are not suspended from the remaining tournament.

8. However, if the same player has been red carded twice, he will be suspended from the rest of the tournament

9. Goalkeepers are allowed to come out of the semi-circle and players can enter the semi-circle as well

10. No throw-ins for goal kick

11. A goal may be scored directly from the kick-off and from anywhere from the court including half-court.

12. Goals are disallowed if it was a direct reflection of the top netting of the pitch.

13. Corner kicks will be in play

14. The match is deemed to be in play if the ball is in contact with the side wall of the pitch.

15. Penalty format at the Knock-out stages

- Best of 3 penalties – each team is entitled 3 penalties each

- There will be a Sudden Kick if there is a tie after the Best of 3 penalties



Tournament Format


16. Qualification criteria and methodology from Group Stage

- Top 2 teams from each group qualify to Knockout Stage

Method 1: Top 2 teams with higher points tally qualify

Method 2: Top 2 teams with better Goal Difference will qualify

Method 3: In circumstances where Top 2 teams have similar points and Goal Difference, number of goals scored will be taken into consideration

Method 4: In circumstances where Top 2 teams have similar goals scored as well, an immediate Sudden Kick will be in play.

** Note: These criteria and methodology applies for teams with similar circumstances to qualify for the 2nd place in the Group as well.
